Week 14, the time is getting shorter to the Supreme Extreme! Wow, feeling the time crunch a little, but confident my mustangs will be ready. Tuckers Amazing Grace has found her “rear”, this is how she is resisting the pressure instead of giving. This is her instinctive response when she spooks and does not want to go forward over an obstacle. She is still struggleing with trusting my judgement when she is afraid, but slowly she is making progress. Her understanding of all the perfomance I have taught her is fabulous, but when she decides to focus on her fear, she does not want to listen to my aids, and so rears and bolts. Great fun,
well not really, but as long as I continue to ask her for forward, and keep the pressure until she moves forward, and then release the pressure the instant she does move forward, she will learn it is easier to give instead of resist. She still needs to let go and trust, but she is getting better.
Over the last 10 weeks I have been working with several of my students and their horses. My Extreme Makeover Clinic is taught over a ten week period two times a month. It is meant to give tools to work horses through resistence and build confidence and performance foundation in horse and rider. My students and horses did great and Tuckers Amazing Grace was a great demo horse for this clinic. We finished up the clinic at Melvern Lake and had a great ride and then took a break and went swimming in the lake. We had a blast. One of my students is Dana and her Supreme Extreme 2011 mustang, Maverick. It was great to work with her and her mustang to help her prepare him for the Makeover in Septemeber.
Every year I have done the Extreme Makeover I pick a name for the mustangs that has a spiritual meaning behind it. God speaks so clearly to me through the horses, so I like to share that with all of you. This year I picked “Grace” as being the foundation to “Tuckers Amazing Grace”s name. See through Grace we are saved through Christ Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice of dying on the cross for us, even though we were not worthy of that sacrifice. Mustangs are given the reputation of being unworthy of a great equine status because no great pedigree and award winning background. They are considered ‘mutts’ of the equine world and condemned by many. So, not only was “Tuckers Amazing Grace” in this catagory of horses, but she also was wounded badly. I had the choice to leave her and not take her home, however God spoke to my heart and I saw that even though I was unworthy, Jesus Christ still gave me grace and died for me and accepted me into his family. I knew I had to do the same for “Tuckers Amazing Grace”.
Eph. 2:8
“For by GRACE are you saved by faith, not of yourselves, it is a gift from God, not of works, lest any man should bost.”

I, like Grace, had a hard time letting go and trusting God but in time I learned life is better that way lol
